Eredivisie, Netherlands
vs
Tuesday 3rd February 2010 19.00 GMT
Groningen
- Groningen have been in great form after the winter break and defeated AZ 1-0 on Saturday evening thanks to Tim Matavz goal;
- The team picked up 10 points from last 4 games, which is a big success seeing they played Sparta, Heerenveen, Twente and AZ Alkmaar during that period, and showed very decent football;
- They have been inconsistent at the beginning of this season, but with this win they have climbed to 9th spot in the table with 24 points;
- The coach Ron Jans should deal without Sepp de Roover, Petter Andersson, Ondrej Svejdik, Nicklas Pedersen, Tim Sparv and Koen van der Laak due to injury, while Gibrаil Sankoh is suspended;
- Most of the injured players are not first team regulars so probably the coach will make just one change to the side that started the AZ Alkmaar game;
- Groningen’s performance is very good when playing at opponents in the bottom 6 with an average of 2 points per game.
Den Haag
- ADO struggled against Heerenveen last weekend, but two goals in the final 15 minutes helped them to a 2-1 victory;
- They are the Eredivisie’s number sixteen side at the moment with 18 points, and are just one points adrift of safe zone;
- Raymond Atteveld’s side rarely bring points from away games against top table teams and the trend looks likely to continue;
- The coach likely to choose a defensive approach and a 4-5-1 formation since vs Groningen’s attack;
- Aleksandr Rankovic and Lorenzo Pique are sidelined due to injury, but Pascal Bosschaart returns to the squad after suspension;
- The newly signed Estonian forward Anders Oper could make a debut in this match;
- ADO has only two clean sheets this season and a lot of goals scored against them.
MY PREDICTION – ONE OR BOTH TEAMS NOT TO SCORE with possible result 1-0
FINAL RESULT 2-0
